{"id":257,"date":"2010-05-10T07:32:08","date_gmt":"2010-05-10T13:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nicolecutts.com\/blog\/?p=257"},"modified":"2010-05-10T07:34:04","modified_gmt":"2010-05-10T13:34:04","slug":"52-dream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.nicolecutts.com\/blog\/?p=257","title":{"rendered":"#52: Dream"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Why have you\u00a0chosen to do the work you do?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I asked this question the other day at a workshop I was\u00a0conducting on <strong><a title=\"the four agreements\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Four-Agreements-Practical-Personal-Freedom\/dp\/1878424319\">The Four Agreements<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 More than a few participants looked at me as if I had lost my mind.\u00a0 A few people murmured under their breath \u201cto get paid of course\u201d a few others admitted that this was their first job out of college or that they just needed\u00a0 a job.\u00a0 I wondered about this and\u00a0realized\u00a0that I found their answers somewhat depressing.\u00a0 Later that day I asked\u00a0two of my\u00a0coaching\u00a0clients\u00a0\u00a0(one man &amp; one woman) to tell me about their Visions for their lives.\u00a0 I noticed that a transformation came over both of them as they told me about their dreams for their lives.\u00a0 There was almost child-like wonder and a twinkle in their eyes as they shared these dreams with me. I noticed that I felt happy listening to them.\u00a0 Later going home on the train I contemplated these scenarios and realized one reason why I do the work I do.<\/p>\n<p>I started thinking about the uniquely human tendency we have to dream for a better life.\u00a0 It seems that this is what makes us humans and what I find so precious when I am talking to people about their dreams and Visions.\u00a0 Everyone seems to display that child-like quality of hopefulness when they engage in dreaming.\u00a0Dreams can be\u00a0very fragile and precious things.\u00a0I\u00a0realized that one thing I enjoy when coaching people is the feeling of being honored that they share their\u00a0dreams with me and are enlisting my help in making these dreams a reality.<\/p>\n<p>This dream sharing\u00a0is just one element of why I love my work but it was\u00a0a nice insight for me.<\/p>\n<p>(first posted 9.30.09)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why have you\u00a0chosen to do the work you do?
