An Interview with Social Media Butterfly

A lot of people have been asking me questions about the newest member of the Vision Quest Retreats tribe; Social Media Butterfly. They want to know who she is, what she does and where she hangs out so I caught up with her in cyberspace to catch a quick interview…

NC: So Social Media Butterfly thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me. I just want to ask you a few questions.

SMB: I’m busy but never too busy to chat in cyberspace, besides I have a habit of being a lot of places at once.

NC: Is that how you came up with your motto; “Who says you can’t be everywhere at once?”

SMB: Yup!

NC: So who are you? I mean what do you do, what’s you mission? You know what I mean.

SMB: (laughing) I’m basically a digital sprite and my mission is to enlighten and enliven those upon whom I land through my use of social media.

NC: So you flit around in cyberspace spreading your pollen?

SMB: Yes you antabuse could say that. I like to use a touch of humor to connect people, shout out worthy causes and people who are living their visions.

NC: Aside from humor what’s in your pollen?

SMB: I guess you could say ideas, information, inspiration and love too. I try to give support and help people use social media in a positive way.

NC: That brings me to my next question. When you say “help people use social media in a positive way” is that your job? I mean how do you make a living? I imagine even sprites have to eat.

SMB: True! When I’m not playing I do a little social media consulting mainly with small businesses and entrepreneurs. It’s a part of the coaching I offer to small business owners.

NC: What do you do for fun? I see you are “on the scene” a fair amount.

SMB: Well yes that’s part of my job too. I pop up at events and gatherings to report on the goings on there.  Like our trip to Atlanta the other day for the wellness conference. I take gabapentin pics and share what’s going on in different places, because people can’t be everywhere at once but I can.

NC: Where will you be next?

Sporting a SMB T-shirt

SMB: I’ll be at the Vision Quest Retreats/Blogalicious event August 11 in Potomac, MD; Unleash Your Social Media Butterfly. Stacey Ferguson will be there too presenting “5 WAYS TO INCREASE CLIENTS, GENERATE REVENUE AND ENHANCE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILE” It’s a pool party and fundraiser to send a deserving woman to Blogalicious 2012 in Las Vegas this Fall.

NC: One last question SMB; the boots, the wings, the little outfit…are you a super hero?

SMB: (laughs) Let’s say an aspiring super heroine.

Weekend (writing) Update with Nicole Cutts

Update on my progress writing The Adventures of Isabelle. Comments on your experience welcome!

Update on the Update 6.16.12-So what I didn’t really stress in the video is the awful self doubt that plagues me when writing. I find the process an exquisite mix of excruciating pain (when the doubt is dogging my steps) and intense pleasure (when I’m in the flow of creating a magical fairy tale that seems to be being revealed to me).

Today I picked up Natalie Goldberg’s  Wild Mind: Living the writer’s life for some inspiration and this is what I found…”Every morning as soon as you wake up and each night before you go to sleep, say to yourself, simply and clearly, ‘I am a writer.’ It doesn’t matter if you believe it. Just plant that seed.”  She goes on to say. “We work on different levels. When we actually write and lift that heavy pen to the vast page, beings seen and unseen help us. Saying ‘I am a writer’ calls up the unseen beings. Soon what we want to be and who we are meet and we are one.”

I hope this helps you as it did me! (click if you want to learn more about Natalie’s books)

Much continued success and well being,

Nicole

Spring Cleaning Tips Part 2

Once you have identified the clutter in the various areas of your life; mind, body, spirit/soul, behavior and home, that it’s time for you to be rid of (Part 1 of this post gives examples) you will create an action plan with a timeline to achieve this. For physical clutter, for example, I suggest a schedule that outlines goals and when you will work on clearing (you will need to break this into chunks).

If it’s related to your body or spirit you also need a plan. For example I am currently doing a “BODY-MIND-SPIRIT CLEANSE” through the Jobri Center for Integrative Health in which I am letting go of certain toxic foods and adding more healthy food into my diet. This cleanse, as the name suggests, also focuses on letting go of the negative stuff we harbour in our minds and spirits.

While I am also engaged in de-cluttering my space right now i.e. purging files of old papers etc., this blog post is really more about shedding negative and self limiting beliefs and attitudes. Remember Shakti Gawain’s definition of clearing; letting go of false constricting beliefs and patterns and replacing them with positive supportive ones.

Try this Success Coaching exercise for CLEARING:

1) Make a list of all negative beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that you hold e.g. low self esteem, jealousy, comparing yourself to others.

2) On another piece of paper write down positive beliefs to replace these. Turn them into affirmations where you are able e.g. “I love myself exactly as I am.”

3) Create an ideal scenario of who you wish to be, include how you will feel, what you will believe and how you will act. Don’t sensor yourself. This is your ideal, make it grand and beautiful! This must be written in the affirmative and present tense. e.g. “I am confident in my abilities. I feel full of joy as I share my gifts and talents with others.” versus “I will be confident in my abilities. I will feel joy when I stop hiding my gifts and talents from others.” Do you see the difference?

4) Take the list you made of negative stuff and burn it, bury it or place it in a G*d/G*ddess/Higher Power Box to have it removed (see video for further instruction).

5) Take your ideal scenario and either put it where you can see it, place in your vision book, or put it in your G*d/G*ddess/Higher Power Box.

6) You can always say some prayers to help you with this. It’s really personal and you should trust your intuition. If you need help with prayers I recommend Marianne Williamson’s “Illuminata: A Return to Prayer

7) Feel free to get creative with any aspect of the above exercise (s). If you need some help feel free to drop me a line and as always your comments on this post are welcome.

Much continued success and well being,

Nicole
